We are so grateful for your interest in supporting the 2027 Women's Board Project. Twenty years ago, the Women's Board began the annual tradition of funding a specific research project at the Barrow Neurological Institute. These projects are chosen to highlight key areas of research at Barrow that are not only innovative, but also make a measurable impact on patients’ lives through cutting-edge research.
We are proud to announce that the 2027 Women’s Board Project will support the Barrow Sleep Center. This research aims to study sleep as a critical, yet underexplored, factor in health aging, inspired by the “Blue Zones” concept of communities with exceptional longevity. Through developing evidence-based sleep strategies and creating the first real-world dataset linking the Blue Zone exposome, sleep quality, and healthy neurological aging, the project has the potential to reduce the risk of stroke, dementia, and neurodegenerative disease, and improve cognitive performance and quality of life.
